A close call at Red Shed Malting resulted in a unique, intensely kilned product they never want to recreate. If the mishap hadn't been caught when it was there might have been a Barn Burner, but it was caught just in time for the malted barley to pick up intense aromas that are welcome in whisky. With patience, the heavily roasted Penhold Malted Barley brings something entirely unique and never to be recreated in this Artisan Collection Single Malt. You can expect aromas of espresso grounds, toasted coconut, leather and chocolate-dipped cherries. On the palate, look for sweet sponge toffee, roasted barley and rich, dark cigar tobacco.
