Inspired, by an Italian Rose Lambrusco Martin and Alanna tasted in 2020. Martin gave it to Alanna as a "blind" and, per Alanna “I couldn't for the life of me figure out where it came from, it had the acidity of a German wine but no one I knew in Germany would have made something like that. Low and behold it was Italian, and we vowed to recreate the wine but Rheinhessen style. What resulted was something in which tastes NOTHING like the inspiration behind it but we love it nonetheless”.
Tasting Notes: A very easy-drinking lightly sparkling rose pet nat. Delicious bubbles; hops, watermelon, cream soda, herbs, vanilla ice cream kinda vibe… A bottle won’t last long.
Vinification Method: Fermented in barrel, and then bottled with 8-10 grams of sugar from the last grapes from the last harvest, usually Glera. “We had an idea about what we wanted to create before harvest but it was only during harvest that the blend came about, the idea is that the Riesling (young vines, first harvest from them), added the acidity, the dornfelder added the colour, the Siegerrebe (2 week maceration) added the floral fruitiness, and the Johanniter added the hoppy tannins”.
