Natural White Wine
A small crowd of varieties growing together in Lower Austria and ending up in the same bottle. Not blended afterwards, but grown, picked and fermented as one little vineyard community from the beginning. With this many grapes involved, you might expect everybody to be fighting for attention, but somehow the opposite happens. The fruit feels bright and orchard-driven, with a little savoury lift, while the granite and sandstone soils give the wine this lovely firm, mouth-watering feel. Gemischter Satz is the tradition Alex grew up with in Vienna, but here he is taking that idea into Lower Austria and letting a completely different place have a go at it. Five grapes, one vineyard, one ferment, and somehow one very coherent wine.
